And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. - Genesis 1
We take great pleasure in capturing the stunning beauty of Big Bend National Park, one of the most captivating destinations for photography enthusiasts. Located in southwest Texas, along the border with Mexico and the majestic Rio Grande River, Big Bend offers a wealth of diverse landscapes and breathtaking natural wonders that serve as endless inspiration for our fine art photography.
When people think of Texas, “majestic mountains” may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, Big Bend National Park challenges these preconceived notions. Emory Peak, rising to an impressive height of 7,825 feet (2,385 m), showcases the grandeur and beauty of the Texas landscape. While it may not hold the title of the highest peak in Texas, its commanding presence and awe-inspiring vistas make it a compelling subject for fine art photography.
The Chisos Mountains, formed by volcanic activity, stand as a breathtaking backdrop for our compositions. These majestic mountains are the only range in the United States fully contained within a national park. Adorned with ancient trees such as junipers and oaks, they add depth, character, and a sense of wonder to our images. Moreover, the canyons carved by the Rio Grande River through Santa Elena inspire awe and captivate the imagination. These magnificent canyons, with their towering cliffs and the river’s meandering path, create a visual spectacle that is truly awe-inspiring.
Casa Grande, with its prominent stature and the interplay of light during the morning and evening hours, is a personal favorite to photograph. Its prominence in the landscape and its interaction with the golden sunlight create captivating compositions that evoke a sense of wonder and beauty.
The Window, a popular hiking trail within the Chisos Mountains, offers not only a rewarding outdoor experience but also an excellent vantage point to witness breathtaking sunsets. The trail provides a unique perspective as it leads you to a natural opening in the Chisos Mountains, framing the sunset in a truly mesmerizing way. It’s a perfect spot for both adventure and capturing stunning images.
While Big Bend is predominantly a desert region, it is unlike any other desert you’ve seen before. Throughout the year, depending on rainfall, the seemingly dead and barren landscape bursts into life with vibrant wildflowers and amazingly green cacti, transforming the arid terrain into a magnificent display of colors. We eagerly seek out these moments when the desert blooms, capturing the fleeting beauty of the wildflowers and the bright greens of cactus springing to life in our fine art photographs. Furthermore, the park is teeming with a rich variety of wildlife, from elusive desert inhabitants including bears and mountain lions to magnificent birds. We strive to document and celebrate the diversity and vitality of Big Bend through our photography.
