Benjamin, Texas, the county seat of Knox County, was named after Benjamin Clark, the son of early settler Hilory Bedford Clark. Hilory Clark established a ranch in the area in the late 19th century, and when a post office was needed, the town was named in honor of his son, who had tragically passed away.
